Sewall hires Philip Nash as global economist/consultant. Nash will provide macro-economic analysis of domestic and overseas timberland markets

Sewall is pleased to welcome Philip Nash as Global Economist/Consultant. With over 32 years’ experience in finance, the past 16 focusing on timberland investment and research, Mr. Nash will join Sewall’s Forestry & Natural Resource Consulting group, the oldest in North America. He will provide macro-economic analysis of domestic and overseas markets; conduct research, risk analysis, and investment counseling services for timberland investors; and support Sewall’s forest and natural resource valuation and due diligence efforts.

Before joining Sewall, Mr. Nash was the research director at two U.S.-based TIMOs – Forest Systems and Global Forest Partners (GFP) – during which time he was involved in analyzing timberland investments and markets throughout the Continental U.S., Central America, South America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.  He also oversaw outside appraisal processes for global timberland assets.

Mr. Nash has focused on assessing market drivers and identifying sector trends and their implications for timberland investment regions, as well as for key global demand centers which consume paper and forest products.  After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Philip started his career in commercial banking and investment banking where he engaged in real estate workouts, acquisition due diligence, fundamental equity analysis, risk analysis and asset valuations.  He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, is a current member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and a past member of the Boston Real Estate Finance Association.  Philip served as a past Chairman of the NCREIF  Timberland Committee and participated in NCREIF’s Real Estate Information Standards (REIS) Committee.
