James W. Sewall


Brian Schneider, RF, joins Sewall’s forestry and natural resources consulting team. UMaine graduate joins 137-year-old Maine Company

James W. Sewall Company is pleased to announce that Brian Schneider, RF, has joined its  Forestry & Natural Resources Consulting team. Mr. Schneider brings fourteen years’ experience in forestry planning, management, consulting, and education. Mr. Schneider will join Sewall’s valuation team as a Forest & Natural Resource Analyst, focusing on timberland appraisal. 

Previous forestry experience includes two years as a land management forester and three years as a service forester for the North Carolina Forest Service; one year as a county forester for the Virginia Department of Forestry, and one year as a field forester for Fountain Forestry in Montpelier, Vermont. Mr. Schneider’s teaching experience includes developing college curricula and teaching forest management; silvics, and silviculture; GIS/GPS; forest fire behavior and management; logging and marketing; and forest measurements at Haywood Community College in Clyde, NC, where he also was granted the “Excellence in Teaching” award. He owned and managed Taconic Natural Resources, LLC, in Weaverville, NC, focusing on forest management plan development, timber sale administration, forest inventory, timber appraisal, and GIS mapping and analysis for private forestland owners in Southern Appalachia.

Mr. Schneider graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Forestry, concentrating in ecosystem management. He earned a Master of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Maine, where his research focused on ecosystem management and economic stability.
